Update at 5:30pm: Won't get the final decision until Monday, Feb 8th when the anaesthesiologist reads a previous EKG from 5 years ago with the new ones. I guess then I'll find out if it's a go for surgery. Still staying on the protein diet. And I am now off work!! Thanks all for your kind words-they really help.
Just a quick update today. 9 days into the liquid protein drinks and I will say, it isn’t too bad. Don’t feel like doing a jig but I’ve stopped thinking about food (OMG?) and seeing 13.6 pounds lost so far is really motivating. My really bad news is that my surgery might be delayed next Wednesday. I guess the anaesthesiologist didn’t like my EKG (it showed a bundle branch block) which in layman’s terms means my heart doesn’t fire perfect. Since I show no other symptoms, like being dead of a heart attack, it could be nothing or it could be further investigation by a cardiologist which means delay. I am waiting patiently for the nurse at the clinic to get back to me with some information. Since I will be travelling out of town for the surgery, I need to cancel the hotel reservation if I don’t get banded next week. And I am booked off work-WTF-I’m taking my time off no matter what! My first thought when they called was here I have been on this pre-op diet and why couldn’t they have told me before I started. After careful consideration (and a bunch of tears), I realized the best thing for me right now is to lose as much weight as I can without the band. The band will still be in my future as I know it will be the only thing that will help me lose all the pounds and the most important thing, to keep the weight off! Besides my stomach has deflated dramatically, like I was stuck with a pin so I guess the liver is shrinking which will help my fatty liver situation.

how absolutely heart breaking!!! I hope it's only "might" be delayed, and not "will" be delayed. They never ordered an EKG for me...I could have been misfiring and I'd never have known! Well at least you know they're not just a stab and slab operation and they're taking your health very seriously.
Honestly, I think you're doin a good thing, staying on the liquid diet and keeping on the losing path. By the end of my Medi Trim weeks, I honestly felt like I could have stayed doing Medi Trim for the rest of my life and not bother with food again! I know you've been mentally preparing for this for such a long time, and you could see the end in sight...but it WILL come!! And we'll all be here to support you every step of the way until it DOES come! Chin up, little soldier.
*HUGS*
Sending you "surgery as originally scheduled" vibes! I have a RT BBB and no problems w/ anesthesia. Hoping they clear you quickly. Whoever thinks this band path to weight loss is the easy way, is out of their everlasting mind!
Mine was also almost canceled because of a bad EKG. It looked like one of the chambers of my heart was working to hard (possibly enlarged). I had to have a Echo and got the negative results literatly minutes before I needed them to get my doctor's signoff.
Hopefully, yours will turn out to be nothing like mine and you can get everything in time!!
Oh, I'm sorry for the bad news - but you are doing great and yes, losing weight regardless is a great plan. I'll be sending positive vibes your way. Keep us posted! :)
Hope you get good news about surgery this week! And congratulations on your weight loss so far - well done.
The bright side is that you really are on the path already. The surgery itself surely doesn't change things overnight anyway. You're eating less and losing weight...that's the goal. So if it gets postponed a little, you'll just have had a running head start.
(You've already passed my pre and post-op weight loss combined. And I don't even hate you for it!)
Good luck kiddo.
thinking of you and all my fingers crossed :-)
Damn.. that stinks. BUT it is good they are looking after your safety.. you really have done very well on your pre op diet.. hang in there.. I am sending positive heart reading vibes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Did you get them? keep us updated..
Oh Bugger! This is not good.. Just keep doing what you've been doing and hopefully things will turn around. Thinking of you chicklett!!
Cara xx
Oh no...I couldn't think of anything worse. You guys really get hauled over the coals for this op. I will cross everything for you. On the positive front you have lost a great amount of weight so well done!!! Sending all the positive vibes your way
Crossing my fingers & toes that all goes as planned & you don't have to postpone. No one wants to have to redo the pre-op diet again!!!
Hugs!
Thinking of you and hoping you get the surgery as planned. Best of luck, and lots of hugs from across the pond.
