Gumdrop Confessions

Confession. I just got home from Walmart with my new purple towels. Standing in line I picked up a container of Gumdrops.

I paid for my towels and then the guy behind me says, "aren't these your candies". Oh right, I'll pay cash and out I went.

I drove home chewing away, probably 20 of them. Stuck in a traffic jam I decided to read the Nutrition label (yeah like these are nutritious):
Calories per 4 pieces: 140
Fat: 0 g (Great, fat free)
Protein: 0 g
Sugars: 27 g

Ingredients: sugar, corn syrup, modified corn starch, artificial flavours...

Yuck. On a sugar high right now. All because that guy noticed the container hadn't gone through with my order. Yikes, 700 calories of sugar.

But I now have pretty purple towels and bathmats.

I like ones that look like that but are solid and hard - and then I crunch them up and damage my teeth, not to mention my diabetes. I want my head examined. I bet the towels looked beautiful though...

Wow, just goes to show that some seemingly innocent LITTLE candy can do a lot of damage! Stupid man!

Wow! That's a lot of calories for a really small serving. I would have thought a serving would be larger.

Sandy! Way to go realizing and looking at those calories! It is SO HARD to break these old habits. They are like the disfunctional friend that is always there with something not so good for you but it is familiar and so we rinse and repeat. :) But opening your eyes and looking at that is an amazing step toward your goals my dear. Keep at it, you will get to where you want to go. Have faith in yourself and realize that the gumdrops are lying to you...they really aren't that good, or you wouldn't need to keep eating them to get that feeling. One day, YOU will be all you need and the food will have no more power over you. THAT will be the sweetest taste of your life. :)

Holy beejesus what a load of SUGAR! I would have said, "Oh, no... I changed my mind, thanks though!" There's a reason you almost forgot them on the belt. Why do men have to ruin everything?!

On the bright side, I bet you are loving your towels. Shopping is always nice.

I am addicted to Hot Tamale candies. Our IT guy at work keeps an open stash of candy, including a giant container filled with the hot tamales, at his desk for the bank to enjoy. Damn the giving people! Damn them!
