Psychics

Have any of you ever gone to a Psychic or had your fortune told. Or shuffled the Tarot cards? The word psychic, comes from the Greek psychikos—"of the mind, mental". Also called sensitive, a psychic is a person who professes an ability to perceive information hidden from the normal senses through extrasensory perception (ESP), or is said by others to have such abilities.

I have this incredible urge to have a reading just for fun but have no idea where one finds such a person. A Google search gave me a bunch of names here in my city, but how does one go about choosing a psychic.

12 years ago, one of my friends came into class one day to tell us about her "fortune telling" adventure and thought it helped give her a heads up to life. It sounded so intriguing but the rest of us never got around to actually going. The upside (or downside) was that she ended up separating from the sod who was her husband (just like the psychic said). I always wondered if it was seeing the future or the suggestion to my friend that made it happen. The marriage was pretty bad to begin, abusive and controlling so it may have just been the push she needed to end it.

My boss mentioned to me that I can't let things just slide off my back, that I was more sensitive than the others who work for her and why I was picking up such toxic vibrations more than others. Yup, that's me. I can pick up small nuances that others just don't feel or see. It might be called intuition, second sense, a gut feeling, ESP, a Wooooo moment.

I've known this for most of my life and yet cannot put a finger on why I can sense stuff that others don't. For many years I taught nursing and so many times I would be compelled to go see one of my students just as she was dropping a patient (we caught them together). I will phone my son and hubby just as they are pulling in the drive as if there was some signal they were emanating to let me know they were near. And as a mom, I would wake up seconds before my babies awoke as if I picked up some vibration from their room.

After my dad and mom died there were just too many little nudges that they were still around to discount. I remember driving along the highway on my way to bury my dad's ashes (I had the canister in the car). It was pouring rainI mean torrential downpour. As I got close to my exit, I glanced over to change lanes and swore it was my dad driving the car beside me. At that exact moment, the sun came out and stayed hot and sunny for the rest of the afternoon. Shivers!

I haven't quite got a grasp on what this all means. Can some people just "see" like the Ghost Whisperer? Can this stuff be dangerous or just a curiosity for a laugh and fun time. A mystery which maybe I should ignore.

Us Canadians (right Gilly) believe we can get almost anything in the States. Do you think there might be a psychic in Chicago? Are any of you game?

Weird. I know. It's a strange day.

I did once ("Madam Tamar", at Weston-super-Mare...), and she told me a whole pile of things about having a blond son, who loved making lists. I was unhappily married at the time, and never had children (and I'm a listmaker), and I think she may have picked up on a wistful expression when she mentioned children. However I'm not a sceptic - my partner John had a very revealing experience years ago in Sri Lanka which I'm asking him to write down, and I'll tell it (my way) as a story on my blog, because it's really worth telling.

I had a reading in New Orleans once, because my sister-in-law insisted, the girl was pretty good and picked up on some things that surprised me. My maternal grandfather was said to be a psychic that people came from far and wide to see. My sister and I and my niece all have a very strong intuition, I don't know how else to put it, but we do and I think it's quite a wonderful gift.

I went to one. It was fun and interesting. I think you should go now while the interest is there. Take a close friend to take notes for you and maybe a tissue.
Have fun with it!

I went to one about 8 years ago, and I actually just got out my notes the other day because I realized something she had foretold had really happened. So, I reviewed the notes to see what else made sense in my life now. Lots! Very interesting!

oh honey, you can get 1000000 psychics here! I have always wanted to go, not to base my life decisions on what she says, but just for fun. So if you find one I'll go!

Anything for my tootsie roll.

I hate to be a bubble buster, but I worked as a "psychic" and I am so totally not psychic. I was acting. I took a training course to learn how to read people . I would give a generic reading and go in the direction that the client was indicating by tiny facial expressions, and that sort of thing. I'm a pretty good poker player for that reason too (I can often tell what someone is holding) and have been asked if I am psychic at the poker table. My advice would be to go if it was just for fun, but don't let someone take a bunch of money from you for a reading. (By the way, I felt terribly guilty taking people's money so I didn't stay in that job for very long at all.)

I went to one recently and it was on the phone. So no way could she pick up on my facial expressions. I really didn't say very much. She knew I had kids but didn't know their ages or sex. She nailed both my kids. She did say I was going to get this one job I had applied for and meet a man who was from up north that I was going to marry some day. LOL. The reading was about a month ago. I didn't get the job and I did meet a guy from up north but nothing really happened. But I have a few more months to meet him as she said within 6 months! "Up North" can mean a lot. But I was pretty impressed with her reading over a phone. I will probably call her back at some point and she connected me with my spiritual advisor who I see once every week or so. She's helping me get my spiritual grove back so to speak!

I have wanted to have a psychic reading for a long time. I would be very interested in what a psychic would have to say about me. So I'm in....a psychic field trip in Chicago...sounds like a lot of fun!!!

I went to one with my BFF when we were in the French Quarter last fall. I can't remember too much about what we were told, but we sure did have a wonderful time.

I think psychics are fun and games-- they can be perceptive, and in some ways, it can almost be a like a therapy session. Have at it in Chicago-- I am sure there ARE pyschics there.
Your new profile pic looks amazing, you face has transformed!!

Oh Sandy, I just wish that I could be there in Chicago with ya'll!! I would have loved to go to the Psychic with all of you.

I had a reading from a Psychic about 21 yrs ago. This was just after I moved from So Calif to No Cal, and I was just making friends.

I asked her if I would meet Mr Right and remarry at some point in the near future. She told me that I would be friends with my next mate for about two years, then we would marry, and we would have 3 children.

I met Walt a couple of months later, we moved in together a month later and we married a few months shy of being together for 2 years. And by the way, between us, we have 3 kids!!
